“The fire on the altar must be kept burning; it must not go out. ” – Leviticus 6:12

24/7 Worship and Prayer
On September 19th, 1999 a prayer meeting began which continues today. From dawn to dusk and through the watches of the night, prayer and worship have continued twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. The Prayer Room is the heartbeat of all that goes on at the IHOP Missions Base. This ministry center is committed to fulfilling the Great Commission by keeping the fire on the altar burning through continual prayer and fasting as we usher in the 2nd Coming of Jesus Christ in the same way John the Baptist prepared the way for the Lord (Matt. 3:3) that His glory will one day cover the earth (Hab 2:14).
The Lord first awakened me to the concept of night and day prayer in Fiji fifteen years ago during a Youth with A Mission (YWAM) outreach. Many years later while pursuing a career in graphic design, the Lord revealed to me His desire to change the World through prayer. I awoke from a dream with this Scripture: “If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land” (2 Ch. 7:14). I asked God how I could change the world through prayer and He spoke to my heart, “One prayer at a time.”
Beloved, we are called to ‘preach the gospel to all creation’ in order to make His Name known, but we cannot do this if we are not firmly planted like trees by streams of Living Water abiding daily in the Vine Himself. In order to obey the 2nd Commandment of loving our neighbor and taking the Kingdom of God to the ends of the earth, we must give ourselves to the Greatest Commandment of loving the Lord our God with all our hearts, souls, minds, and strength (Mark 12:30). As we live in communion with Jesus Christ, we partner with Him causing His Kingdom to be established on earth as in heaven (Luke 11:2).
The issue is not a matter of prayer versus service; it is a matter of the First Commandment being in first place. The Great Commission can only be fulfilled in partnership with the Living God who proclaimed, “My house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations” (Is. 56:7; Matt.21:13). The Lord is establishing houses of prayer around the world where His Name will be exalted 24 hours a day 7 days a week all year. Our wisest investment on the earth is to spend our lives in wholehearted devotion to Jesus!
